The Peninsula Cruise Night is held on the first Tuesday of the Month at the Peninsula Lifestyle Centre, cnr Nepean Hwy & Bungower Rd in Mornington, Victoria.
Santa Claus continued to be a crowd puller at Santa Cruz 12. Almost perfect weather, another visit from Santa, kid’s activities, and the prospect of a bigger than regular cruise night roll up of great cars resulted in around 400 cars with owners, family and friends cruisin in.
The cars kept rolling in, we ran out of flyers at 300, and they kept coming. Proceeds from the night’s charity raffle were to be donated to the Mirabel Foundation and the inclusion of some ‘Christmas Cash’ in the hampers provided incentive to grab an extra ticket or two on top of the one when entering.
The man in red cruised in in his ‘Pink Caddy’ sleigh ringing the bell to get the kids lined up in front of his tent. Santa was soon in heavy discussion with all the kids about what’d they’d like him to bring as presents this Christmas Day, while nervous parents tried to listen to what they were being committed too!!
There were pretty consistent lines into the Sober Mule, the Rotary sausage sizzle and the LGC tables while extra tickets were purchased, Cruiser subscriptions renewed and some merchandise gathered up.
When Santa had seen every child, it was time to send him off to his next engagement.
Elizabeth, a representative from the Mirabel Foundation’s team was presented a cheque for $1000 from LGC treasurer, Heather. Elizabeth spoke briefly about the important work this Foundation has performed over the 20 years since starting up. |
