Honda CR-Z Hybrid Wins Award
Honda’s all-new sporty CR-Z hybrid has won the Best Sports Car at the ‘What Car?’ Green Awards 2010, recently held in the U.K.
The CR-Z won praise for its sharp handling, efficient engine, sporty looks and unique design. It was also commended for its best-in-class economy and value for money.
Editor-in-chief of ‘What Car?’ Steve Fowler said; “The CR-Z is small, light and looks just right, and it’s powered by hybrid technology which means it’s clean and efficient to run too. The CR-Z is the greenest and most cost effective sports car available in the market today.”
As the world’s first hybrid with a sporty 6-speed manual gearbox, the CR-Z stands out from other low-emission cars on the market and offers pure driving enjoyment thanks to its agile chassis, direct steering and low driving position, with loads of torque from the petrol-electric drivetrain.
The unique 3-mode drive system is a key feature, to maximise choice and enhance the driving experience. The three modes alter the responsiveness of the throttle, steering, idle stop timing, climate control and the assistance level of the IMA system.
Demand for the CR-Z since its world debut in January this year has been exceptional with over 10,000 orders placed in Japan in its debut month and 500 cars sold in the U.K. in its first month on the market. The CR-Z is due on Australian shores in late 2011.
The ‘What Car?’ Awards, now in their third year, seek the best eco-friendly cars to buy. Rather than centre exclusively on emissions or fuel consumption, the awards take in a range of factors including value for money, safety and the driving experience, while maintaining their core focus on environmental impact. |
