|Big drop in Car sales in China
China has posted a 11.6 per cent decline in new vehicle sales for the month of September in a clear sign of the softening in global economic conditions
China’s new car sales figure for September went down to 2.4 million units – marking the third month in a row the market has fallen year-on-year.
Ford sales in China went down by 43 per cent with Volkswagen. General Motors (GM) and Jaguar Land Rover all reporting solid declines
Jaguar Land rover sales were down by 46 per cent and the company has closed one of its manufacturing plants for 2 weeks.
The impact of a softening car market in China will have a significant impact on the global income of car manufacturers such as Volkswagen and General Motors who both rely on China for about a third of their global sales.
