The cheapest ever electric car in the US has been unveiled by Chinese manufacture Kandi.
The companies Kandi K27 hatchback and larger K23 hatchback will arrive in the US by the end of this year where initial sales will begin in Texas, which is where the company’s US division in based.
The Kandi K27 produces just 20kW, has a top speed of 100kmh and a range of 160 kilometres and will be on sale at a price of US$12,999
It comes with a 7.69kWh lithium battery.
The companies K23 electric model is larger, has a 41.4kWh lithium battery that produces 21kW and a range of 289km
Both models have four seats and front-wheel drive, a four-year/80,000 kilometre warranty and an 8 year warranty on the electric battery.
There is growing speculation that Kandi will sell both vehicles into Australia
