The new look Citroen C5 X has been officially revealed and will go on sale in Europe later this year with buyers not able to purchase a diesel version with the company opting for a choice of a petrol model or a plug-in hybrid with 165kW of power and a 50km driving range on electric power.
The new C5 is also under consideration for release in Australia next year.
This new third-generation C5 reveals a SUV style body with its pronounced rear wheel arches, a sloping rear tailgate, and lip spoiler.
There is also a hands-free power tailgate on some models and the C5 rides on Goodyear 19 inch tyres and measures 4805mm long, 1865mm wide and 1485mm high, with a 2785mm wheelbase.
The new model is 24mm shorter than the previous model………….5mm wider, 2mm taller and 30mm shorter in the wheelbase and provides 545 litres of boot space which expands to 1640 litres with the second row folded flat.
The interior of the new model features a 12.0-inch touchscreen along with the expected wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with over-the-air updates, a voice-operated personal assistant, wireless smartphone charging, a colour head-up display, satellite navigation, and four USB-C ports.
As expected of a Citreon the C5 has lounge-style Advanced Comfort front seats aloing with a panoramic glass sunroof and sound-reduction front and rear windows.
All new C5 models come with Citroen’s Advanced Comfort suspension system with the plug-in hybrid models adding a three-mode adaptive damper system with Progressive Hydraulic Cushions that can soften or stiffen the suspension as required.
The new C5 comes with Level 2 semi-autonomous driving that includes lane-centring assist and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go.
There is also long-range blind-spot monitoring, a 360-degree camera, rear cross-traffic alert and keyless entry
