New LOGO for Renault

French car manufacturer Renault has announced plans to roll out a new logo across its entire range by 2024.

It is a minimalistic design first previewed on Renaultís 5 electric hatch prototype which was unveiled earlier this year.

The new LOGO retains the brand's iconic diamond silhouette, but moves it to a two-dimensional plane.

It will be the ninth rendition of Renaultís badging since the brand was launched way back in 1898, and the fifth variant of the diamond design that was introduced in 1925.

The most recent variant of the logo was designed in 1992, and then tweaked in 2015.

The Renault Megane electric small SUV expected to be released in early 2022 is tipped to become the first production model to wear the new LOGO.

Renault design director Gilles Vidal said: "The diamond is one of the most recognised shapes in the world and in the world of the automobile...the new logo strikes a balance between recognition of the brand's heritage and entering a new era."

The new LOGO for Renault sees the French car manufacturer join other brands such as Peugeot, Volkswagen, Kia, General Motors, Nissan and Maserati who have all launched new or updated logos in the last year.

The move to introduce new car LOGOS is coming as the world prepares for the mass take-up of electrified motor vehicles.
